It's lovely to have you drop in on Lawn Tea---thank you for your comments. You know, I don't think I've ever been present when Apple Butter was made---I just recall the spicy scent which contributed to that unique aroma which surrounded the "Fruit House" where all my Mammaw's home-canned goods were kept.
It's VERY popular here in the Heartland. I always thought of it as maybe a Winter-breakfast item, but the very first company picnic we went to when we moved here featured fried chicken with those "pop-it" biscuits dropped right into the same fryer, and passed around crisp and steamy-hot with big bowls of the spicy brown apple butter topping.
We went to the Butler Ballet Nutcracker this past weekend, and it was magnificent.
Laura: I was so surprised that I did not already know about this ballet version of Sleeping Beauty. It's beautiful and my fairies are just as dark! LOL!
Oh wooooooow! That looks and sounds amazing!

ReplyDeleteI found some on the shelf in the store. It's like apples with the same spicing as in a pie. You are right. Good for winter and toast.
